radio pü's material is a blend of many pop culture sources
and tends to be good old down and dirty — cheesey fun,
as well as encompassing many brow heights. Musically we pull
from tons of traditions and sources, from stereotypical film
music to free jazz improv to metal to funk to jazz to rock to
fill-in-the-genre-or-invent-one-for-us. Below is a categorized
list with written script samples from pü's multifarious
oeuvre created and compiled from 1997 to the present day. Please
do enjoy — and — don't forget to checkwipe when
you're done.
The project originated in 1995 when
artistic director rosS
Hamlin was a student at Berklee College of Music. Originally
from Minnesota, he presented numerous radio theater sendups
in the tradition of Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Companion
and Orson Welles' Mercury Theater. Using a more urban and
funky approach, radio Pü's material is also influenced
by several other approaches to live entertainment that affected
the X Generation's worldview.
